Born in 1984 in Stanytsia Luhanska (Donbas, Ukraine), Lena Lagushonkova is a playwright and prose writer. Former chief playwright at the V. Vasylko Odessa Academic Music and Drama Theatre. Laureate of major playwriting competitions in Ukraine and Poland and recipient of the European New Talent Drama Award (2022). Her works are staged across Europe. In 2025 she debuted in prose with My Flag Was Sewn by a Cat, awarded BBC Book of the Year.
