Greek Literature of Ukraine: from Catherine II to the Present
What do we mean when we talk about a ‘national literature’? How do national literatures develop, grow, but also disappear? My multilingual project thinks through these questions by focusing on Greek Literature written in Ukraine—mainly in Mariupol region—from the 18th century to the present. The literature I analyze was written in Modern Greek, Rumeika (a Greek language), and Urum (a Turkic language), and nearly all the materials I use are in Ukrainian and Russian.
