This research analyzes the Greek Orthodox anti-Islamic literary corpus that circulated in the early modern Ottoman Empire. It investigates how the Byzantine tradition influenced the production of new texts and how polemical discourse(s) were articulated in a new historical and religious context shaped by the Ottoman rule. The two case studies proposed here will contribute to a better understanding of the Greek attitudes towards Islam and the Qur’an throughout the early modern Ottoman era.
