This project investigates how Bucharest, Buenos Aires, and Beirut, described as “Parises” of their region, reshaped themselves over a century of political upheavals, by focusing on the construction of boulevards as an expression of modernity. Using an interdisciplinary approach based on archival records, press representations, interviews, and architectural hermeneutics, the project examines how roads embodied different projects of modernity in the long shadow of an initial Parisian makeover.
