After WWI, Romania gained control over Transylvania, Northern Bukovina and Bessarabia, previously part of the Habsburg and Tsarist empires. Consequently, the Kingdom absorbed three different legislative traditions, which had to be harmonized with the Romanian one. However, the task turned out to be much harder than expected. The project aims to analyze the process of legislative unification, focusing on the relationship between imperial legal cultures and nationalism.
