The project examines the development of ideas about cremation, the debates surrounding them, and the challenges of their implementation in the territories of Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Yugoslavia before WWII. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach combining intellectual and architectural history to explore the links between the transformation of ideas and processes of their embodiment. The selection of case studies allows for comparative analysis both across and within them.
