The notion of Levantinism designates a transnational, multicultural alternative to a separatist vision of an ethnic, political, and cultural map of the Middle East and highlights the intersecting effects of colonialism, decolonization, migration, and Orientalism. Drawing upon the burgeoning scholarship on Levantinism, my project aims to explore an uninvestigated voice in the multicultural discussion on Levantinism, namely, the contribution of Russian-Israeli literature.
