The project examines the film work of the theatre actress and director Mărioara Voiculescu, whose role, like that of many women involved in film production, has been neglected. Through primary archival materials and secondary sources, this study aims to reassess Voiculescu’s contribution to early cinema in Romania and reflects on the role of women in the development of Romanian and Balkan film industries within the global context of early filmmaking, film culture, and modernity.
