The proposed project examines the emigration movement among Romanian musicians during the communist regime, as well as the state attitudes toward the musical diaspora and its changes in accordance with the different stages of political liberalization. It takes into account different communist archives in order to retrace the paths and challenges faced by emigrant musicians, prior to and after their establishment in a new country, as well as their primary motivations for departure.
