The project explores the ways in which wearable technologies aimed at measuring bodily activity intersect with medical practices and discourse, as well as the types of sociomaterial practices they produce and the ontologies they bring into being. The research is embedded into the wider context of self optimization, with an approach combining Foucault’s work on subjectivation with the more recent debates from the ontological turn in anthropology and science and technological studies.
