Dennis DELETANT, Professor Emeritus of Romanian Studies at University College, London
Dennis Deletant is Professor Emeritus at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and one of the leading historians of Romania’s twentieth-century history. Educated at the University of London, he developed a distinguished academic career at SSEES, where he became Professor of Romanian Studies, and later held appointments at the University of Amsterdam and Georgetown University.
He is widely known for his research on communist Romania, with major works such as Ceaușescu and the Securitate and Romania under Communist Rule, which are regarded as essential for understanding the country’s recent past.
His scholarship has received broad recognition, earning him academic distinctions and state honors in both the United Kingdom and Romania.
